Consumers like to feel informed. Knowledge of a product allows us to scratch the capatilistic itch more freely; to spend with more confidence. Companies understand this, and created advertising, marketing an public relation departments to preserve the distance of consumers feeling informed and the actual information; to communicate the message of the product through a narrow, carefully controlled vocabulars and make see it as the truth. This was a long time ago and consumers are now more accepting, even cynical about the sincerity of the company line. In retaliation, we have developed our own ways of staying in the loop - like the enthusiastic press, which this magazine is one microscopic part. But we also have experience: catalouged decades of products launched, altered, discontinued, and relaunched that can help us describe the road ahead. It's why we know there will be a third Transformer film and even more Halo after March.
